Purpose:

Athene is seeking an experienced actuarial professional to support Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) valuation and financial reporting across all entities. This role will lead valuation processes, provide insight into capital and ALM strategy, and partner across teams to influence key financial and business decisions. The successful candidate will collaborate across Canada, Bermuda, and the U.S. to enhance valuation infrastructure, support transactions, and strengthen reporting and controls.
Athene is a leading retirement services company with a strong and growing presence in North America and Bermuda. As we expand our Canadian platform, we are building a high-impact actuarial team supporting enterprise-wide valuation, capital, and strategic initiatives.


Accountabilities:

  • Lead end-to-end EBS valuation delivery, including quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Build and enhance valuation infrastructure, including streamlining QE/YE processes, improving controls, and driving automation
  • Partner with regulators and auditors to support reviews and strengthen the control environment
  • Support strategic transactions (e.g., reinsurance, capital initiatives) with valuation insights
  • Contribute to dividend and capital decision-making for senior leadership
  • Collaborate with investments and risk teams on ALM strategy and asset assumptions
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Athene and Apollo to evolve methodologies and challenge assumptions
  • Manage and mentor junior team members


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) , or equivalent qualification, with Fellowship (FSA) preferred
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance or reinsurance
  • Experience in valuation, capital, or ALM, with exposure to EBS, CALM, LICAT, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with annuities, PRT, or asset-intensive products preferred
  • Experience with actuarial modeling platforms (e.g., AXIS, MG-ALFA) preferred
  • Proficiency with data and analytics tools (Excel, R, Python, SQL, Power BI, etc.)
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and influence senior stakeholders
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical results into business insights
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, less hierarchical environment


$112,640.00 - $168,960.00 CAD Annual


Annual Salary for this role is market competitive.  Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.  Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
