The Defined Benefits and Actuarial Services practice within Retirement Consulting is composed of a dedicated group of nation-wide professionals with extensive experience in the fields of pension & savings and actuarial consulting. We specialize in providing strategic guidance, expert analysis, and effective risk management to help our clients offer the best pension plan for their plan members. With a deep understanding of complex mathematical models and statistical analysis, our team excels in assessing and quantifying risks in the retirement landscape. Our Defined Benefits and Actuarial Services team brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every engagement.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Actuarial Consultant to join our team. As an Actuarial Consultant, you will play a vital role in designing and managing defined benefit pension plans for our clients. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the long-term sustainability of these plans while meeting the needs of both employers and employees.

What you’ll do…  

  • Client Relationship Management: responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients; acting as the main point of contact and trusted advisor, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions. 

  • Actuarial Consulting Services: assess the financial health of defined benefit pension plans, reviewing pension benefits, and providing strategic recommendations for plan design and restructures. This includes plan valuation, risk management, regulatory compliance, employee education, and plan administration, contributing to the long-term sustainability of the plan for clients’ and their members. 

  • Team Leadership: support team engagement by providing mentorship, guidance and technical expertise to junior team members, fostering their professional development. Oversee the delivery of projects, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to timelines and budgets.  

You have…

  • 5 years of experience in pension plan consulting

  • Professional actuarial exams and certifications such as; CAIA,CFA,CEBS,FLMI, ACS, ASA,ACIIN, ALHC,FSA,AICA,FCIA,CEBP,PLP, CERA, MAAA,HIA,FRM)

  • Knowledge of the various pension schemes and actuarial standards of practice including pension plan evaluation, financial projections, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements

  • Proven ability to develop relationships at the highest levels of client organizations

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; supporting the growth and mentorship of junior team members

  • Solid organization, time management and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to meet performance targets within a practice area

  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint

  • Post-secondary education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field

  • Continuous learning and staying updated with the latest developments in actuarial science, financial markets, industry developments and emerging trends related to the pension industry
