JOB DESCRIPTION:
Accountant - Temp (12 months)Hamilton, ON - hybrid
Driven Brands is searching for a mid-level accounting professional who wants to make a difference! The Accountant is a key member of the Accounting and Finance Department and will work closely with Treasury, AP/AR, and key Accounting and FP&A areas. This Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager, and will be responsible for account reconciliations, posting journal entries, facilitating audit, and month end close process. This opening is needed due to a maternity leave and will have an expected duration of 12 months.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules
Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles
Provides financial support, including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget
Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements and reports
Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects
Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
Full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques
Provides resolution to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
Exercises judgement within defined policies, procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
Builds productive internal and/or external working relationships
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance/Related fields
3-5+ years of experience in general accounting activities
CPA designation strongly desired
Experience with general month end close process (bank reconciliation, posting journal entries)
Experience with ERP System; preferably Oracle
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
