Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager – Retention is responsible for leading Peninsula Canada’s client retention efforts. This role combines hands-on client engagement with leadership oversight, managing high-risk cancellation cases while driving performance, coaching, and strategy across the retention team.
Job Overview
We are seeking a results-driven, emotionally intelligent professional who thrives in fast-paced, target-focused environments. In this role, you will lead by example—personally managing complex client “save” conversations while coaching and developing retention specialists to improve save rates, renewal revenue, and overall client experience.
This is a highly consultative position where success is measured not by new client acquisition, but by revenue retention, reduced churn, and long-term client loyalty. This is an office-based role. This is an existing vacancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Personally manage a portfolio of at-risk clients, spending approximately 50% of your time in direct client engagement
- Lead and inspire a high-performing retention team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Develop and refine objection-handling techniques, value-based selling strategies, and save-call structures
- Monitor individual and team performance against save rate, revenue retention, and conversion targets
- Partner with the SVP, Customer Solutions & Retention to enhance scripts, frameworks, and training programs
- Identify churn trends and proactively recommend strategies to improve client retention and lifecycle health
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Service, Legal, Payroll, Health & Safety, and BrightHR teams to resolve complex client issues efficiently
- Thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced, performance-driven culture
Education & Experience
- Proven B2B sales experience (industry experience not required)
- Field sales experience is an asset, but not required
What You Bring To The Team
- A mature, consultative approach to selling and client engagement
- Strong ability to retain and grow existing client relationships by identifying new value opportunities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive, resilient, and results-oriented mindset
- Strong business acumen and professional presence
- Highly target-driven with a passion for exceeding goals
- Proactive, creative approach to problem-solving and relationship-building
- Ability to influence a range of stakeholders, including Business Owners, Board Members, and HR leaders
What You Get in Return
- Competitive base salary of $60,000 - $80,000 depend with uncapped commission
- Commission on every renewal completed
- Bonus opportunities when department goals are achieved
- 15 days of paid vacation
- Extra day off for your birthday
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Ongoing training, development, and career progression
