About the team:

The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve long term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.

About the job:

  • Identify collaboration opportunities (such as competitions, grants, special issues, top conference workshops, etc.) within key academic organizations by aligning with major research directions in ICT software engineering and AI. Develop comprehensive collaboration plans aimed at solving world-class challenges.

  • Based on the academic collaboration plan, identify high-value academic resources relevant to Huawei's business. Manage substantive academic collaborations (primarily competitions, grants, special issues, and workshops), integrate internal and external resources, ensure project execution and achievement of collaboration goals, thereby enhancing Huawei's influence and positive image in the academic community.

  • Manage internal and external networks of high-level academic experts, monitor dynamics within academic organizations, foster an open environment for innovation and academic exchange, and expand collaborative resources.

The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $127,000 to $225,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

About the ideal candidate:

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

  • Broad vision in cutting-edge ICT science and technology, particularly in AI, computing engineering, and software engineering. Ability to identify collaboration opportunities behind academic trends and changes. Strong written communication skills.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in technology research, ecosystem/industry development in the ICT field.

  • Understanding of academic organization operations, with relevant work experience in academia or multilateral organizations.

  • Willingness to continuously challenge oneself and enhance personal influence both within and outside the company.
