The Role

Joining Moderna offers the unique opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that's revolutionizing medicine through mRNA technology, with a diverse pipeline of development programs across various diseases.

As an employee, you'll be part of a continually growing organization, working alongside exceptional colleagues and strategic partners worldwide, contributing to global health initiatives.

Moderna's commitment to advancing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding career experience, with the potential to make a significant impact on patients' lives worldwide.

Moderna is solidifying its presence in Toronto, Canada's largest city and a hub for biotech innovation. Our Toronto office focuses on commercial operations, ensuring the delivery of our innovative products to the Canadian market. We're inviting international talents to join our mission of transforming medicine and impacting lives worldwide.

We’re looking for a highly motivated and curious Commercial Intern to join our Canadian operations in Toronto. This role spans two vital functional pillars: marketing execution and trade & supply operations. You’ll gain cross-functional exposure and contribute directly to omnichannel campaign development and product distribution activities, helping ensure our vaccines reach the Canadian market efficiently and effectively.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of commercial strategy, operational excellence, and digital innovation. You'll support the backbone of Moderna’s customer engagement and product availability engine, collaborating with key teams and partners to turn insights into action.

This is an individual contributor role, best suited for someone eager to learn, take initiative, and build practical experience across CRM, analytics, order-to-cash workflows, and supply readiness. The position is based in Toronto and will provide exposure to various internal functions including Marketing, Finance, Medical, Regulatory, and Legal.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support planning and execution of omnichannel campaigns (email, web, webinars/events, in-pharmacy activations), including maintaining timelines, creative briefs, and asset trackers.

  • Assist in building and refining customer segmentation lists within CRM platforms.

  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to develop simple dashboards tracking engagement, reach, and conversion metrics.

  • Contribute to distribution readiness for commercial campaigns, ensuring supply and operational alignment with marketing efforts.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Support product and customer master data activities, including item setup, pack information, pricing updates, and ongoing maintenance with both internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Assist in order-to-cash (O2C) processes: validate purchase orders, track shipment notices and invoices, monitor for discrepancies, and become familiar with basic EDI touchpoints.

  • Monitor inventory movements across wholesalers/3PLs, including stock on hand, in-transit inventory, backorders, and returns; flag potential risks and support simple mitigation actions.

  • Maintain trackers for service KPIs and provide weekly performance summaries.

  • Document lightweight SOPs and operational playbooks for recurring workflows (returns process, data checks, month-end reconciliations) to ensure scalable, repeatable execution.

The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:

  • “We obsess over learning. We don’t have to be the smartest we have to learn the fastest.”
As an intern, you’ll be immersed in a fast-moving, data-driven environment where learning agility is key. Your ability to absorb, adapt, and apply knowledge across commercial and supply workflows will set you apart.

  • “We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients.”
You will work closely with CRM tools, analytics dashboards, and structured operational data—developing a mindset oriented toward digital solutions and scalable systems that drive customer engagement and product availability across Canada.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (Business/Commerce, Marketing, Economics, Supply Chain/Operations, Data/Analytics, or Life Sciences with strong business interest).

  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to translate complex ideas into clear messages.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable working with data to produce simple analyses/visuals.

  • Organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare, vaccines, or regulated industries.

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the internship (no sponsorship available).

  • At Moderna, we are focused on delivering on our mission by enabling talent to thrive. For this role, we are currently unable to offer immigration sponsorship. Candidates must already hold work authorization in US and be able to maintain that status without the need for future sponsorship.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Working knowledge of French (written/spoken) is an asset.

At Moderna, we believe that when you feel your best, you can do your best work.  That’s why our global benefits and well-being resources are designed to support you—at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
