The Position

Risk Based Quality Management (RBQM)  is a proactive risk management approach that directs focus to the areas of greatest operational risk while maintaining quality and compliance and reducing low impact work. RBQM is a system that reduces the errors that matter to the protection of participant safety, the reliability and interpretability of the study data, and the decisions made based on the study results. RBQM helps study teams to design quality and maintain trial oversight through ongoing and continuous surveillance of information, trends and metrics. By building quality and risk management approaches into the scientific design and operational conduct of clinical trials, risks can be mitigated and issues can be detected early on, or prevented entirely.

The Opportunity:

The RBQM Surveillance Intern will play a valuable role in supporting our RBQM Center of Excellence across a variety of activities related to operationalizing RBQM both through study and portfolio levels. In this role the candidate could have the opportunity to contribute to identifying common risks and developing a study level risk assessment; developing, deploying and monitoring risk control strategies such as Key Risk Indicators (KRI), Quality Tolerance Limits (QTL) or statistical monitoring outputs; providing oversight of risk signals and issues generated; supporting the management of our Risk Library; and/or contributing to portfolio level insights related to risks or issues observed across the portfolio.

  • Support RBQM Surveillance activities to identify potential risk signals and issues

  • Support Insight generation around defined risks and observed signals/issues to further drive consistent and effective study and portfolio level risk management strategies.

  • Support management of Risk Library including standard risks and standard control strategies based on insights generated.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts through managing  knowledge articles and Knowledge management lifecycle.

Who You Are:

  • You hold a bachelor's degree in life/ health sciences, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics and related fields.

  •  Candidates must be enrolled in a Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics and related fields.

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving, characterized by the ability to accurately analyze data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions.

  • Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills, collaborates effectively with team members, demonstrates critical thinking for sound decision-making, and shows adaptability and initiative in dynamic environments.

Preferred:

  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of relevant software tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R)

  • Understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)

Additional Information:

  • Duration 8 to 12 months, work term (Full time) and will begin in May, 2025

  • Location: Based in Mississauga, Ontario.

  • Our team follows a hybrid work structure (minimum 3 days in the office).
