Wattpad seeks a Junior Accountant to manage accounts receivable, billing, variance analysis, reconciliations, and collaborate with teams for reporting and compliance.

Leads Wattpad’s Platform Engineering team, overseeing backend platforms supporting social, notifications, subscriptions, and coin economy features. Responsibilities include managing and mentoring engineers, setting technical direction and roadmaps, guiding architecture and code quality, coordinating project resources, collaborating with Product and business stakeholders, supporting hiring, and managing team performance and development. The role requires significant backend distributed-systems expertise and hands-on experience with APIs, application design, Unix platforms, and compiled programming languages.

Build, maintain, and scale ETL pipelines and data infrastructure supporting analytics, data science, and data products. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, engineers, and product managers to improve architecture reliability and performance. Develop Python tools and services, work with batch and streaming systems, research new technologies, and promote effective data engineering practices. This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover role with hybrid work in Toronto.

Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers, administering policies and employee lifecycle processes. Manage onboarding, offboarding, leave and accommodation administration, exit interviews, employee communications, events, and initial employee relations inquiries. Support performance reviews, engagement surveys, compliance activities, scheduling, tracking, and reporting while handling confidential information and coordinating vendors or budgets.

Lead Wattpad P&L ownership, AOP and strategic planning, budget and cost control across technology, marketing, and content. Build financial models, evaluate ROI on investments/vendors, optimize spend, partner with cross-functional leaders, and use Google Workspace and Claude AI to automate reporting and analysis.
