Position: Slitter Operator Assistant
Location: Mississauga Flexibles Plant
Wage: $22.81
Shift: Rotating Shifts - 7am-3pm OR 3pm - 11pm. (Must be ok with both)
Responsible to Shift Supervisor through the direction of the Slitting Leader to doctor rolls according to customer requirements. All employees are mandated to create a zero injury environment and engage actively in all areas of SPS.
What you’ll be doing:
- Understanding and proper application of all safety rules, regulations and procedures including proper personal protective equipment and safe manufacturing practices. (e.g. Cut resistant gloves and proper handling of blades)
- Pack shafts and monitor machine
- Maintain all company health and housekeeping standards
- Communicate and coordinate with previous and following shifts.
- Minimize waste; improve efficient use of materials
- Set the standard for excellence in product quality
- Ensure product quality meets all customer requirements
- Set-up and operate the roll doctor machine
- Remove or correct defects from the slitter rolls
- Ensure product is packaged/palletized properly according to customer specifications
- Change rewind/unwind rolls
- Perform minor mechanical maintenance on machine as required
- Retrieve and deliver proper materials to the slitter
- Input numbers, quantities, and times into company reporting systems accurately
- Make core labels
- Able to operate all slitters to cover for Slitter Operators as required
- Understand machine set procedures
- SPS Participation
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Understanding of basic printing technologies
- Aptitude for basic math
- Good communication skills
- Problem Solving and trouble shooting skills
- Strong attention to detail
- are able to work with minimal supervision
- are able to perform physical requirements of the job
- are available to work rotating shifts ( 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm)
- are 18 years of age or older
- have Grade 12 education or equivalent
