The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring our scale agile methodology is properly implemented and followed by the team. The Scrum Master acts as a coach, mentor, and servant leader, helping and guiding teams through the Scrum process and helping them achieve their work assignments and goals, while contributing to building a culture of collaboration.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Owns and facilitates the end-to-end agile process within a scale framework, including all ceremonies and reporting for several concurrent project assignments
  • Makes sure that all work is assigned and accounted for in a backlog, plan and assignments to protect the team from other competing priorities and distractions
  • Facilitates work execution that is aligned to agreed priorities, established cost, timing, deliverable, and scope objectives
  • In coordination with Project Managers and Product Owners, engages and collaborates with stakeholders to identify and manage impediments to achieve outcomes of work commitments
  • Drives continuous improvement and change to progressively adapt processes to maximize productivity across work streams
  • Provides expert advice, guidance and support to agile teams with regards to agile best practices
  • Ensures team members adhering to Work prioritized by the Product Owner, making sure the team is not working on too many stories / tasks at once, and helps them get into a flow of starting and completing work in a predictable manner under consistent work velocity
  • Encourages teams to look for opportunities to support each other, sometime going beyond assigned roles and responsibilities
  • Ensures a collaborative culture exists within teams and stakeholders, promotes team building and ensures team engagement
  • Works across teams to ensure accurate and up to date information flows and that teams are aligned on multiple stream interdependencies
  • Prepares timely data driven reporting on progress, work assignments, work produced, velocity and performance, capacity, defect management and open items feeding scale agile reporting, continuous improvement and decision making

Education & Experience Required:

  • Possessing a recognized and relevant agile certification(s) is a definite asset
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as Scrum Master within IT, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget. Experience with multiple concurrent IT-related project assignments is essential
  • In-depth experience with Jira/Confluence/MS Office tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong presentation and negotiation skills are also essential
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage cross-functional project teams. Vast experience in agile methodologies and leading multiple agile teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve project related issues and risks
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, demonstrating exceptional flexibility, adaptivity and resilience in a highly dynamic work environment

Decision Making & Supervision:

  • Work under minimal supervision
  • Make decisions and recommendations requiring analysis and interpretation within established procedures

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP)
